La Pastorale (Domancy)

The chalet offers an exceptional view on to the calcareous mountains of the Passy nature reserve and the crystalline peaks of the Aiguilles rouges nature reserve. They are spread out in front of the chalet flanked by ‘the big white mountain’- Mont Blanc, and to the west by the Chaine des Aravis with at the foot of its highest peak, la Pointe Percée, the site of the re-introduction of the bearded vulture. This wonderful bird with a wingspan of around 3metres disappeared from the Alps a century ago and was the victim of legends that accused it of carrying away small children and attacking flocks of sheep. The gite is involved with the huge project of their re-introduction across the Alps.

The chalet is situated near the village of Domancy in open countryside which is a classified WWF site. The access is by 1km of forest road which can be difficult in winter.
